Science

Overview

A high-quality Science education provides the foundations for understanding the world. The focus of Science teaching in Key Stage 1 is to enable pupils to experience and observe phenomena, looking more closely at the natural and humanly-constructed world around them. Children develop an understanding of all aspects of Science through planned topics, which enable them to develop their scientific knowledge, understanding and skills. In Key Stage 1, the children use different types of scientific enquiry to answer their own questions, seek answers, group and classify things, make predictions and observations as well as carry out simple tests. First-hand practical experiences encourage the children to be curious and ask questions about the world around them.
