The School Day

How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver.

Proverbs 16:16

Witley is a one form entry Infant School. This means that each year group has up to thirty children in their class. Our children begin their journey in Reception Class or Year R  as it is often called, where they follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
Once the children move into Year 1, they begin Key Stage One of the National Curriculum. The children continue to work on this throughout their time with us until they leave  at the end of Year 2.

We have many families who have older children at The Chandler C of E  Junior School and this window of arrival allows parents/carers to drop siblings off safely first. Our window of arrival also aids the limited parking we have close to the school. Children arriving after 8.55 am will be marked late.

School Council

Our School Council is made up of representatives from each year group. Children are elected by their classes and attend regular meetings with the Headteacher. It gives the opportunity for pupil voices to be heard, either by bringing new ideas to the meeting or through discussing an existing school project or focus. Each class has a suggestion box, in which children can post ideas for future School Council meetings. When decisions need to be made, they are voted upon and the School Councillors report the results back to their class.
