Whilst we do not believe in inundating children with homework, we give children home learning to share with parents to support their learning in class. This activity-based approach is aimed at promoting the partnership between home and school and contribute positively to a child’s education.
We ask parents to read with their children at least 3 times a week, if possible on a daily basis and to make a written comment in the Reading Record books. YR pupils are also given reading key words on a weekly basis.
YR children have a WOW book which they can fill in with something special they have done at home. These are then shared in class.
Year 1 & 2 children are given topic-based home learning. The home learning activities are open ended and children can choose how to respond. Home learning is sometimes given to reinforce learning in class, to research a new topic or make something practically. We encourage children to work with a parent at home and talk about their learning in school.
